Biography

Since starting his NFL career in 2007, Kevin Payne has been able to rack up impressive numbers and is currently the starting strong safety for the Chicago Bears. After being drafted by the Bears in the fifth round of the 2007 NFL Draft, Payne had a breakthrough season in 2008 with 88 tackles and four interceptions, thereby establishing himself as a key figure in the team’s secondary. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, Kevin later played college football for the University of Louisiana at Monroe where he spent time as both a running back and backup punter before being moved to safety. Once at safety, Kevin began to excel and gained the attention of NFL scouts. In addition to working hard on the football field, Payne also works hard off the field in order to give back to the community. By joining forces with the Touchdown Shutdown Program to benefit After-School All-Stars, Kevin is now hoping to make an even bigger difference in the lives of those who are in need.
