Biography
Stephen Cooper was born in Wareham, Massachusetts and attended Wareham High School, lettering in football, basketball, and track before going to the University of Maine on a football scholarship. Cooper was a four year starter at Maine and his immediate impact was rewarded with being named the Rookie of the Year in 1999. He ended his career at Maine with 26 career sacks, which ranks second in school history. Also, he was only the 3rd player in conference history to win the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year twice. Since joining the San Diego Chargers in 2003 as an undrafted free agent, Cooper has consistently proven himself as a top linebacker, and his hard work finally paid off when the Chargers signed him to a five-year deal in 2006. Stephen has been a model of reliability for the Chargers, recording 108 tackles in 2007, including 15 solo tackles when the Chargers upset the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. Cooper is a great addition to the After-School All-Stars team and has pledged to donate to Touchdown Vs Shutdown per tackle for this upcoming season.
